The Board of Vicsport has announced that Chief Executive Officer Lisa Hasker OAM will depart the organisation at the end of 2025 after seven and a half years of dedicated service.
Since her appointment in May 2018, Ms Hasker has positioned Vicsport as a vital part of the Victorian sport and recreation landscape. Her guidance has supported countless member organisations and earned her a reputation as a capable, collaborative and respected leader.
“Lisa has been an outstanding CEO of Vicsport and departs with the support and great thanks of myself and the entire Vicsport Board,” said Vicsport Chair, Jason Hellwig.
“Since arriving in mid-2018, Lisa has strengthened every aspect of the organisation. Her positive impact leaves Vicsport in a significantly improved position and her imprint on the Victorian sport and recreation industry will be felt for many years.”
“It has been an honour to serve as CEO of Vicsport for over seven years,” said Ms Hasker.
“Thank you to the Board for their support over the journey and thank you to the wonderful staff who continue to deliver for Victorian sport. Thank you to the Victorian Government and VicHealth for our funding partnerships and thank you to all of Vicsport’s sponsors for their commitment across my time. Finally, thank you to all the CEOs and staff of Victorian SSAs and RSAs for your support.”
Under Ms Hasker’s leadership, Vicsport has driven significant sector improvement through initiatives such as the Child Safe Online Education Program and the LEAP leadership program, which has supported more than 100 women in sport to reach their full potential. She has also championed inclusion across Victorian sport, with Vicsport earning consecutive Gold Status recognition at the Australian Pride in Sport Awards.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms Hasker was a steady and trusted voice for the Victorian sport sector. She guided organisations through rapidly changing restrictions, coordinated timely updates, and advocated to government for a safe return to play. Her leadership during this period saw her recognised as the Victorian Sport Administrator of the Year.
In the years following the pandemic, Ms Hasker strengthened collaboration across the sector by linking Vicsport with Volunteering Victoria and Regional Sport Victoria to create the Sport Volunteer Resources. As a member of the Australian Sports Commission’s Volunteer Coalition, she also helped establish the Sport Volunteer Resource Hub — ensuring sport at every level remains well-run, inclusive and sustainable.
The Victorian Sport Awards have also grown in stature over the past seven years, attracting record public nominations and more than 450 attendees at the MCG Members’ Dining Room this year. Ms Hasker also secured significant sponsorship partnerships that continue to deliver long-term benefits to Victoria’s sport and recreation community.
Beyond Vicsport, Ms Hasker currently serves as Deputy Chair of AFL SportsReady Foundation, Chairperson of Athletes for Hope Australia, Board Member of the Australian Sports Technologies Network and as a member of the Australian Sports Commission’s Volunteer Coalition and the PlayWell Leadership Group.
The Vicsport Board will commence the recruitment process for a new CEO shortly.
