Session Overview
Join VicSport for our next Child Safe Sport Community of Practice as we explore the recent changes to Victoria's Working with Children Check (WWCC) requirements, which came into effect on 19 October 2026.
These changes introduce new responsibilities for sporting organisations, clubs and associations, as well as new requirements for individuals applying for or renewing their Working with Children Check.
Drawing on published Victorian Government guidance, VicSport will explore the changes from a sporting sector perspective, facilitating discussion around their practical implications, common challenges and approaches to implementation.
More than just an information session, this interactive online Community of Practice is an opportunity to connect with others across the sector, identify common challenges, share experiences and explore practical approaches to navigating the changes.
During this session, we will cover:
-
Understanding the changes: An overview of the two key WWCC reforms and what they mean for Victorian sport.
-
WWC Connect: Exploring the new online system and what it means for organisations managing employees and volunteers.
-
Mandatory child safety training: Understanding the new training requirements and their implications for WWCC applicants and holders.
-
Practical implementation: Exploring key considerations, challenges and approaches to implementing the changes.
-
Sector discussion: An opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and discuss common challenges with others across the sector.
Have a question about the changes?
To help us tailor the session to the needs of the Victorian sport and recreation sector, we encourage attendees to submit any questions or areas of concern when registering.
Whether you're seeking clarification on the new requirements or navigating how to implement them within your organisation, your questions will help inform the discussion and ensure the session addresses the challenges facing our sector.
Who should attend?
This session is suitable for anyone at an SSA. RSA or LGA involved in child safeguarding, governance, workforce management or volunteer coordination within Victorian sport and recreation organisations.
