SESSION OVERVIEW

Supported by the Victorian Government, this interactive online workshop is the second part of the MPIO training package. Participants must have completed the online component, which can be found at Sport Integrity Australia eLearning, prior to this workshop.

The workshop brings in additional skills in responding to complaints and provides opportunities to put your skills into practice through practical scenarios.

This session is targeted to Victorian sport MPIOs, especially at the grassroots level of sport.

The learning objectives are:

• Understand the role of a Member Protection Information Officer in sporting organisations;
• Identify if a matter raised is a potential breach of your organisation’s Member Protection or Child Safeguarding policies;
• Identify the avenues available to complainants based on the integrity context of your specific sport; and
• Apply all of the above to practical, common scenarios in sporting contexts.

The MPIO training workshops will be run by Laura Johnston – a trusted Australian sports industry integrity and facilitation expert. Laura has led child safeguarding and member protection development and issues resolution for a decade across a broad range of sports. Laura was a qualified lawyer who transitioned to leadership roles in Australian sport in people and culture, leadership and sport integrity. She takes a practical and pragmatic approach to workshops, aiming for all attendees to walk away feeling more competent and competent in managing integrity issues in line with their roles.

Note that the cost to attend this workshop is FREE.

Prior to the session, attendees will be emailed a Workbook covering pre-workshop reading and activities that will be referred to in the workshop.

Attendees will be able to access an MPIO Training Certificate from the Play by the Rules/Sport Integrity Australia eLearning Platform following the workshop.
