Welcoming & Inclusive Clubs

Kids playing soccer with everyone

Sport and Active Recreation pursuits provide so much more than just physical activity opportunities. Getting involved provides the opportunity to engage on a sporting and social level with others, it builds the physical, mental and social capacity of the individual, and, via the contributions our clubs and associations make on a broader scale, helps build and strengthen communities.

Sport and active recreation opportunities should be available to everyone regardless of race, gender, socio-economic status, or any other personal or social characteristics. Sport and active recreation clubs have an important role to play in promoting opportunities for all be ensuring they promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

What is a Welcoming & Inclusive Environment?

A welcoming & inclusive environment is one that ensures everyone is made to feel welcome, included and valued, regardless of ability, personal attributes, or social circumstance. In a welcoming and inclusive environment, all participants abide by a code of behaviour that is free from harassment and discrimination and makes everyone feel equally welcome.

A truly welcoming and inclusive organisation will be one that embraces an inclusive culture at all levels. This includes players and participants, through to coaches, officials, administrators and spectators.
